Hi Tour de Brisbanites,
Thank you for your patience as we sorted the new start and finish in the Brisbane Central Business District.
The reason for the delayed approval on the final few kilometres is the consequential effect of the public transport system, particularly the new battery-based Metro bus system.
As we have explained over the years, closing a City for a bike ride that may affect millions of people, and their Sunday morning lives requires much collaboration with over 40 stakeholders.
We have been working on this new course for more than a year, as we felt we needed a larger new start and finish, along with a different Brisbane Cycling Festival venue.
Brisbane has significant major infrastructure projects that change constantly, affecting where the course can go, and we often must make changes as the major works continue and schedules change and evolve rapidly.
The new start will be based near the new and iconic Queen’s Wharf facility, and the finish will be near the Victoria Bridge, with the Brisbane Cycling Festival in the South Bank Cultural Forecourt.
We are looking forward to sharing the approved course and profile on Monday 3 March. The changes to the 2025 course will be the basis of other changes to future courses.
Again, I apologise for the delay and the inconvenience caused. To all of you who have entered early, many thanks, as we are only 200+ riders short of last year’s field size. We are on track for the largest field ever and encourage your friends to enter before we sellout.
Many thanks,
Ride hard, Ride safe
Mike Crawley, Race Director
